On the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard, just one–and-a-half mile from downtown Vineyard Haven (also called Tisbury), on the peninsula of West Chop, we offer a beautifully crafted family compound, sleeping 20 comfortably in 10 bedrooms.
        The Tashmoo Cottage and Hideaway consists of three homes in close vicinity to each other on 2 acre spacious, lush land. The property is set back 150 feet from the paved road, down a dreamy clamshell driveway among the oaks.  The secluded Tashmoo Beach is 1-1/2 mile morning bike, hike or drive down a dirt road through the forest.  Downtown Vineyard Haven (Tisbury), with world class shopping, dining and entertainment, is just a mile’s evening stroll away from the front steps in the opposite direction.

Required 7 nights minimum stay during high season.

Reservation Requirement:

50% of the rent due with a filled in, signed lease.

More than 30 people and w/tent: $500.  Use of the land for party hosting, more than 30 people without tent: $150, add garbage fees at cost.

Description:

Two of the homes are located on either end of a long building called the Hideaway.  The original Old Wing, has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths.  The New Wing, has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths. The separate Tashmoo Cottage, has 3 bedrooms, 1 bath.  See description of each home under Accommodations.
Kept apart with fencing and plantings, a management unit is also located at the Hideaway, and has management available on request.

Each home has defined outdoor areas, and functions well as individual rentals, yet are barely steps away from each other. There is space for socialization including everyone in the Old Wing and the New Wing, yet room for individuals to withdraw for some solitude between times with friends and family.  A green field surrounded by a screen of plants, separates the three homes.  A net is  set up for volleyball or badminton on the middle green for all to play.  A side green is available for crocket, and a basketball hoop at the clamshell driveway invites to friendly competition.  The circular clamshell driveway connecting the fields and the homes, is a safe testing ground for young bikers.
       
       The property works well for vacations including your friends and familie, reunions, weddings, rehearsal cookouts, organizations and cooperate retreats. There is room and inspiration for cooking and art demonstrations and other educational retreats.  For increased capasity, a party tent can be installed, next to the Old Wing, where you will also find the largest dining and kitchen areas.  Please request a Party Hosting Request Form if you intend to include outside guest or want to set up a tent.
 
Public tennis courts are located 1-1/2 mile from the property, Mink Meadow Golf Course, is abutting the road to the beach. Sailing instruction and captained day-cruises, can be booked from nearby Tashmoo Town Dock. Many more activities can be included in your schedule.  Please look under Activities.
